Blackwood Earns 1st OHL Shutout

Rookie Mackenzie Blackwood earned his first OHL shutout in a 4-0 Barrie Colts win over the Niagara Icedogs Friday night. He stopped 31 shots and was the game's first star.  Blackwood does not only possess huge potential, but is huge in stature, standing 6'4" and weighing a solid 204 pounds. Technically sound, quick and athletic, Mack can be an intimidating presence for opposing shooters. The 17 year old is still too young to be eligible for the NHL draft in June, but should garner much interest in 2015. Blackwood comes from Thunder Bay, Ontario - the same hometown as another successful Jon Elkin's Goalie Schools student, Matt Murray. In 10 games thus far, Mack has a 2.48 GAA and a .916 save percentage.
