Thursday night was a good one for two long-time Jon Elkin's Goalie Schools clients: Justin Peters and Matt Murray.

Peters earned the NHL First Star of the night honours with a 21 save 1-0 Carolina Hurricanes win over the New York Islanders. The win was enormous as the Canes are now tied with the Isles in the standings and are one point short of a playoff spot. To read more and view highlights of the game click:

Petey also had a stellar outing on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Flyers. He stopped 27 of 28 as the Hurricanes won 2-1. The Pete Dawg, as he is affectionately called, earned the game's first star.

Meantime, in the best junior league in the world, the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Matt Murray continued to show why he is the topped ranked goalie in the league. He earned his third shutout of the season with a 26 save performance for his Sault St. Marie Greyhounds. Murray leads the league in goals against average (2.11), save percentage (.930) and shutouts. He has been a large part of the success of the team thus far as the Hounds have the highest winning percentage in the OHL.
